The incident took place at the hairpin, also involving drivers Ho and Bhirombhakdi. Although the collision appeared minor due to the low speed at this corner, the American driver suffered significant injuries that will keep him off the track for a considerable time.

Benavides’ condition and recovery

Following the crash in the F3 Sprint Race at Monaco, the team confirmed Benavides’ health status. He was taken to hospital and updates reveal that beyond missing this weekend, he will require an extended recovery period away from the car.

AIX Racing will need to appoint a temporary replacement while their regular driver focuses on healing. “Although this is disappointing news, Brad remains in good spirits and is focused on his recovery. Everyone on the team wishes him all the best and a speedy recovery. Brad is a valuable member of our squad and we will support him throughout his rehabilitation journey. We look forward to seeing him back on track as soon as he is fully ready,” the team statement read.

Brad is dealing with three fractured vertebrae. Trying to avoid the collision ahead between Badoer and Taponen, he steered right but was hit from behind.
