After Monaco GP qualifying, Ferrari is already looking to tomorrow, banking on the SF-26’s usual incredible launch
Ferrari ended qualifying for the Monaco GP with some disappointment. Despite a very positive Friday, the SF-26’s pace dipped slightly due to driver errors and brake issues. However, once the checkered flag waved, the entire Italian team shifted focus to tomorrow’s race, concentrating on maximizing their clutch release advantage.

Qualifying below expectations
Ferrari secured third and fourth on the tight streets of the principality, with Lewis Hamilton ahead of home favorite Charles Leclerc. They trailed pole sitter Antonelli by just two-tenths. While the seven-time world champion pushed to the limit, Leclerc struggled more.
After a mistake on his first Q3 run, Charles relied on a final tire set but ended up hitting the barrier exiting Tabac.
Given Monaco’s narrow and twisty layout, where overtaking is nearly impossible, Ferrari will need to be creative to place both drivers on the podium. Perhaps they’ll even aim for the top step.
Ferrari emphasizes the race start
In a post-qualifying interview, Jerome d’Ambrosio stressed that Ferrari’s full attention is on tomorrow’s race, especially the start. Throughout the opening five rounds, the SF-26 consistently showed a strong advantage off the clutch, gaining several positions in the opening laps.
Can this be repeated in Monaco? It’s unlikely to be easy. Rivals made significant progress in Canada, and here the track from the grid to Sainte Devote is very short and narrow. “We have chances at the start,” said the deputy team principal filling in for Vasseur. “We will try to maximize everything at the start. We will give everything and then wait to see how we cross the finish line.”
