The final day of Pirelli testing at the Nurburgring featured Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Lando Norris in action. Both Mercedes and McLaren teams tested the C3, C4, and C5 tire compounds during the sessions. Pirelli’s work continues even during the Formula 1 off-season. The Middle East conflict, particularly the war in Iran, led to the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix. It remains unclear if these events will be rescheduled at the end of the season. Meanwhile, drivers and teams face a month-long break.
This break is only apparent. While teams prepare important upgrade packages at their factories for Miami, several F1 figures choose to keep racing. Max Verstappen will return to the Nurburgring, and Lance Stroll will compete in a GT race at Paul Ricard. Similarly, Pirelli has been active in Germany, concluding significant testing work alongside Mercedes and McLaren on Wednesday.
Productive Pirelli test day for Mercedes and McLaren
On the last test day at the Nurburgring, Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Lando Norris took the wheel. Both drivers began running tests on various C3 tire compounds, performing eight-lap stints each. Afterwards, Antonelli switched to C4 tires, while Norris tested the softer C5s.
The McLaren driver recorded a best lap of 1:33.640, whereas Antonelli posted a quicker 1:32.990. Across both test days at the Eifel circuit, a total of 2106 kilometers were driven. This included work completed on Tuesday by George Russell and Oscar Piastri, despite Piastri missing part of the session due to issues.
