This difficult beginning to Aston Martin’s 2026 F1 campaign raises delicate questions about Fernando Alonso’s future. However, Pedro de la Rosa has offered an update on the situation.
One of the main problems with the new car involves engine-induced vibrations. These vibrations make driving challenging for the drivers and also compromise the car’s reliability. Recent insights from the UK revealed a somewhat alarming scenario regarding Aston Martin’s current difficulties.
Alonso’s future in Formula 1

In a recent interview with MARCA during the Arcade F1 launch in Madrid, brand ambassador Pedro de la Rosa addressed Alonso’s future in F1. He admitted, “It’s a topic we have not discussed at all, honestly. Neither within the team, nor with Fernando [Alonso], neither as a friend nor as a professional.“
He emphasized that the current focus remains on the ongoing season: “We are concentrating on the car, the engine, and improvements… Whatever Fernando plans to do, we need to give a driver of his calibre enough time to make that decision.“
De la Rosa added, “Perhaps now is not the right moment to consider future plans carefully.” Thus, as of today, Fernando Alonso has yet to make a definitive decision about his Formula 1 future.
