The idea of hosting a GP at Imola<\/strong> in December continues to stir debate within the Formula 1 paddock. Among the topics raised recently is the tax matter<\/strong>, already brought up by some drivers.<\/p>\n

Unlike Valtteri Bottas, who expressed some doubts, Max Verstappen<\/strong> downplayed the issue. The Red Bull driver gave a direct reply when asked about potential tax complications linked to a race in Imola.<\/p>\n

Verstappen on the tax issue<\/h3>\n

During a press conference attended by F1inGenerale<\/em>, Verstappen<\/strong> was asked for his opinion on the possibility of racing in Italy in December. The question also covered concerns about the weather and limited daylight hours. Then the discussion shifted to possible tax complications for drivers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are worse places to be in winter than Imola<\/strong>. It is a bit colder than in summer and gets dark earlier, but I think we are smart enough to avoid driving in darkness. As for taxes, you pay taxes<\/strong><\/em>,\u201d Verstappen replied.<\/p>\n

This viewpoint contrasts with Valtteri Bottas’s stance. The Cadillac driver had expressed several concerns about the idea of an Imola race in December<\/strong>. He mentioned fog, low temperatures, and early sunsets. Moreover, he also worried about the fiscal aspects.<\/p>\n

The background of the tax matter<\/h3>\n

The issue refers to investigations underway in Italy regarding how Formula 1 personnel managed certain tax obligations<\/strong>. According to multiple sources, Italian authorities have reviewed the tax affairs of teams and paddock individuals who are not residents in the country.<\/p>\n

Bottas had mentioned sensing unrest among drivers<\/a>. He also claimed that<\/strong> no one was particularly keen on racing in Italy after these developments<\/strong>. The Finnish driver compared the situation with Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n

Conversely, Verstappen did not exhibit the same level of concern. His reply was much simpler<\/strong>. If racing takes place in Italy, according to the Red Bull driver, all legal and fiscal obligations must be respected.<\/p>\n

Any potential Imola race remains contingent on the end-of-season scenario<\/strong>. The Italian circuit has been named as a possible alternative should the Qatar and Abu Dhabi events be canceled.<\/p>\n
