F1 | Lewis Hamilton in talks with Gresini Racing Team over sensational shocking takeover

According to recent reports, Lewis Hamilton is reportedly in talks with Nadia Padovani to take over MotoGP Gresini Racing team

Lewis Hamilton is reportedly in negotiations to take over MotoGP Gresini Racing team. The news was reported just a few minutes ago by The Race, stating that the British champion is interested in becoming the new owner of the Ducati satellite team, succeeding the current CEO Nadia Padovani, who had inherited the team following the death of her husband and founder Fausto Gresini in 2021.

Will Hamilton make it to MotoGP?

After the official announcement of Liberty Media’s acquisition of 86% of the commercial rights, which will take over from Dorna at the end of the season, MotoGP seems to be increasingly intertwined with the world of Formula 1. Hamilton can already boast the presence of some of his major sponsors and Mercedes in the MotoGP world championship, notably Petronas and Monster Energy.

Furthermore, according to the British publication, a representative from the seven-time world champion’s inner circle was present alongside Gresini last weekend in Assen for the Dutch GP, further evidence of Lewis’s interest in the category.

If negotiations were to conclude successfully, Liberty Media would enter MotoGP with an incredible calling card in their hands, although Marc Marquez, who decided to leave Honda after ten years to join the Gresini project, will leave the team at the end of the season to move to Ducati alongside Pecco Bagnaia in 2025.

Hamilton has always admitted to being a huge MotoGP fan, having had the opportunity to ride Valentino Rossi’s Yamaha M1 in Valencia during a promotional event organized by Monster in 2019, a joint sponsor to both the Japanese manufacturer and the Brackley squad.

“I’ve always loved bikes,” he said at the time. “When I was younger, I wanted to race motorcycles, not cars, but my father wouldn’t allow it. He said they were too dangerous.”

“He got me into four wheels rather than two. It was the right choice because if I had raced during Valentino’s era, I wouldn’t have been so successful.”

“Since I’ve been in Formula 1, I have a superbike and I enjoy track days. It’s fascinating. It gives a different perspective.”
